Journeyman Welder

The position of Journeyman Welder includes, but is not limited to production welding, service & repair welding, prototype building, and fitter welding. Responsibilities will include the fabrication of custom prototypes from supplied drawings, fabrication of custom jigs and fixtures to produce production parts that meet customer specifications, as well as the fabrication of metal structures using jigs and fixtures in a high paced production environment.

The use of various hand tools, machinery and equipment will be required to manufacture metal products. This position will work with Supervisors and Lead Hands to ensure continuous improvements in work cells, hitting quotas, welding according to pre-set parameters using MIG, ARC and TIG welding processes. The ability to scan in and out of work orders is a must. The Journeyman Welder will be required to assist the Design Department with insight and knowledge of superior manufacturing methods, perform random maintenance on returned products to be refurbished or re-worked to customer specifications, and have strong knowledge and skill in operating all metalworking machinery. Additionally the Journeyman Welder will be required to read and understand production drawings, blueprints, work orders and other written instructions.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
  • 2 years’ experience as a Journeyman Welder
  • Interprovincial Red Seal or CWB tickets
  • Valid welding certification, Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), certified in all positions
  • Possess a valid drivers’ license
  • Ability to work independently in a busy environment
  • Experience with routine maintenance operations
  • Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment

Duties:

  • Maintain safe work practices
  • Read and interpret blueprints or welding process specifications
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments using processes such as gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), gas metal arc welding (GMAW), flux-cored arc welding (FCAW), plasma arc welding (PAW), shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), oxy-acetylene welding (OAW), resistance welding and submerged arc welding (SAW)
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment
  • Operate brazing and soldering equipment
  • Operate metal shaping machines such as brakes, shears and other metal straightening and bending machines
  • Repair parts of metal products by welding on extra layers.
  • Assist in development of repair estimates
  • Conduct Technical Inspections
  • Conduct repairs, modifications and retrofits
  • Liaise with internal and external customers for resolution of data and technical problems
  • Monitor parts usage and report on any material issues
  • Prepare input for various management and log reports
  • Provide data to assist in monitoring and tracking project budgets and project status
  • Assist in training, directing & supervision of junior employees and apprentices, inspecting and certifying their work

Full-Cycle Accountant

Summary:

The Full-Cycle Accountant assists the completion of monthly financial statements through accounting tasks and procedure

Requirements:

  • 3-4 years of full-cycle accounting experience and working towards an Accounting designation.
  • Excellent computer skills with experience in Microsoft GP being an asset.
  • Very good understanding of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook programs.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail while working under tight deadlines.
  • Assertive and comfortable when communicating with other departments.
  • Strong critical thinking skills that would help to identify any potential underlying principles, reasons, or facts.

Duties:

·        Prepare, compile and post month-end general ledger journal entries (eg. Prepaids, Accrued Liabilities, etc.).

·        Maintain and reconcile the company’s fixed assets schedules.

·        Prepare any fixed asset transfers (inventory to rental fleet) and fixed asset retirements (rental fleet to sold units).

·        Organize and conduct regular fixed asset counts.

·        Ensure the timely closure of the company’s ERP system modules (eg.A/R, A/P) during month-end.

·        Assist with any transactional inquires and prepare internal reports as requested by other departments.

·        Prepare and compile the monthly balance sheet account reconciliation package.

·        Analyze, and interpret the company’s operating results (profitability, actual vs. budget, etc.).

·        Work with other departments to improve process efficiencies and reporting.

·        Prepare and submit federal and provincial tax installments and returns (GST, PST, etc.).

·        Assist with the annual external audit process.

·        Review the account coding on purchase orders and make any necessary adjustments.

·        Provide coverage for the rental invoicing process if required.

·        Review/update Accounts Receivable and Allowance for Doubtful Accounts working papers.

·        Review/update Unearned Revenue working papers.

·        Review/update Vendor Deposits and Customer Deposits working papers.

·        Other Accounting related projects or tasks as required.

Summary:

The Heavy Duty Mechanic Journeyman is required to perform skilled tasks in the mechanical repair and maintenance of trucks and trailers. The Heavy Duty Mechanic Journeyman will have the ability, conduct CVIP/VIPK tank inspection to troubleshoot major and minor mechanical problems, as well as have the ability to repair and adjust all necessary mechanical components. Work assignments will be received in the form of oral or written work orders, but the employee is expected to determine the nature and extent of needed repairs.  Other duties may be assigned as required.

Requirements:

  • Must hold a Journeyman's certificate, &/or Red Seal and CVIP Inspector
  • Certified Tank Inspector
  • Completion of college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training.
  • Appropriate credentials and certifications.
  • Four years' experience as a Heavy Duty Mechanic.
  • Possess a valid driver's license.
  • Proven mechanical abilities in hydraulics and electrical, including schematics and diagnostics.
